Residents of western Montgomery County should be aware of upcoming closures of Montevideo Road in Poolesville.

Starting April 16, crews will begin work on the replacement of the Montevideo Road Bridge, a project that could take 10 months.

During this time, there will be two road closures of about five weeks in length. First, crews will remove the existing bridge and build a temporary bridge to accommodate traffic. Then, the road will close again to remove the temporary bridge and reinstall the repaired bridge.

To avoid the bridge work and road closure, drivers should consider taking Partnership Road, which runs parallel to Montevideo Road to the west. Berryville Road is also an option for those drivers heading to the east.
