The MARC Brunswick Line will operate reduced service Thursday after heavy rains washed out a portion of track and stranded four trains.

The Maryland Transit Administration said there will be no service to Martinsburg, Duffields, Harpers Ferry or Brunswick, with limited service to Point of Rocks.

The rail line will operate Thursday with five trains instead of the usual nine.

“Passengers should note that capacity will be limited versus normal Brunswick Line service,” the MTA said. “Not only do we have four less trainsets to operate, but three of the four trainsets that are stranded in Brunswick and Martinsburg are larger (5 or 6 car) trains.”

The MTA recommended that rail users use Metro if possible or use commuter bus #505 from Hagerstown or #515 from Frederick County.
