What You Need to Know About the Capitals Victory Parade

The Washington Capitals Stanley Cup Championship parade will take place Tuesday, starting at 11 am at Constitution Avenue and 17th Street. It will then make its way down Constitution Avenue, then turn right onto 7th Street NW. At that location near the National Mall, there will be a rally.

Getting to the Caps Parade

Metro will provide peak rush-hour service throughout the day and into the evening commute. Trains will depart end-of-line stations every 8 minutes, with service as frequent as every 2 to 4 minutes at downtown stations served by multiple lines.

Hundreds of additional Metro employees will be on hand to support the operation, including additional police, station managers, train operators, supervisors and support staff to assist fans at downtown stations.

Busiest Metro Stations

The busiest stations during the Capitals’ Stanley Cup parade are expected to be Archives, Arlington Cemetery, Foggy Bottom, Federal Triangle, Metro Center, Federal Center SW, L’Enfant Plaza, Smithsonian, Archives, Union Station and Gallery Place. Metro is advising attendees to ensure that your SmarTrip card is loaded with enough fare value to cover your entire roundtrip. Passengers can check their balances or load additional value online.

VRE Train Updates

VRE will be adding capacity to the midday trains on both lines. Fredericksburg Line train #305, currently has available capacity and would be the best choice for an afternoon train. Additionally, Amtrak Trains #95 and #125 may be utilized in accordance with the rules of VRE’s cross-honor agreement.
