VDOT and Fairfax County are seeking feedback on ways to reduce congestion in and around McLean, and will be hosting a pair of community meetings.

VDOT and the county have been speaking with residents over the last year and conducting a traffic study to explore ways to reduce traffic in the area and make neighborhoods more accessible.

In the short term, VDOT said it hopes to curb congestion by installing new signs and pavement markings, putting in traffic cameras, and making improvements to shoulders to allow for better for police enforcement.

Long-term, VDOT said it is exploring a number of options, including limiting access to the ramp from Georgetown Pike to northbound I-495 during the afternoon rush.

Meeting details:

When: Thursday, August 2, 7 p.m.
Where: McLean High School, 1633 Davidson Rd., McLean

A second meeting will be held later in the fall.
