Drivers in the Fredericksburg area should be aware of “intensifying” roadwork along Route 3 overnight this week, as crews work feverishly to complete a new lane to connect I-95 and Carl D. Silver Parkway.
The Virginia Department of Transportation said drivers can expect a variety of disruptions from now through May 18, all part of a broader $21 million I-95 Safety Improvements Project.
Here’s what drivers can expect this month:
- I-95 Southbound Ramp to Route 3 will be closed for nighttime paving through Friday, May 10.
- For the next two weeks, the double right turn lane from Route 3 westbound to Carl D. Silver Parkway will be reduced to one lane.
- Drivers won’t be allowed to make a left turn from Route 3 at the Carl D. Silver Parkway intersection from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. May 7-11 and then May 13-18.
- For most of May overnight, traffic in the Central Park area at Carl D. Silver Parkway will be limited to right turns in and right turns out.
