Memorial Bridge will be closed beginning Friday at 9 pm through Monday at 5 am to allow construction crews to complete work started last weekend.
Crews were unable to complete repairs last weekend due to sustained high, fast water in the Potomac River, according to the National Park Service.
During this weekend’s closure, barges will be moved to the base of the bridge on the Potomac River so workers can install pilings through holes in the bridge deck. The pilings will anchor support systems for the bridge during the rehabilitation process.
The next full weekend closure is tentatively scheduled for November 2018, NPS said.
