Howard County is looking to widen one of its key roads and add a turn lane to one of its most congested intersections.
The county is hosting a public meeting on August 2 to review plans for a third left turn lane on Snowden River Parkway at Broken Land Parkway in Columbia.
The turn lane is part of a broader effort to widen Snowden River Parkway from Broken Land Parkway to Oakland Mills Road.
“These improvements will alleviate traffic congestion in the area and provide a safer and more accessible environment for multiple roadway users, including pedestrians and cyclists,” Howard County said in a meeting notice.
The road widening would turn Snowden River Parkway into a six-lane urban arterial roadway. The project also involves the construction of an eight-foot-wide shared-use pathway along both sides of the road.
When: Thursday, August 2, from 5-7 p.m.
Where: Hammond High School, 8800 Guilford Road in Columbia
