Howard County residents will be offered an update on plans to widen Snowden River Parkway in Columbia from four lanes to six.
The county will hold a public meeting on Feb. 28 to offer details on the plan, which calls for the widening of the road between Broken Land Parkway and Oakland Mills Road.
The widening would essentially upgrade the road into an urban arterial roadway. Plans also call for an 8-foot wide shared use path on both sides of the road.
Snowden River Parkway is a major north-south thoroughfare that connects MD-100 and MD-32 and also offers access to MD-175. The plans for the road widening coincide with broad efforts to introduce new development in the area, most notably with the Columbia Gateway Innovation District, a proposed mixed-use complex on 920 acres near the intersection of MD-175 and I-95.
Here are the details of the meeting about Snowden River Parkway:
When: Wednesday, Feb, 28. 5-7 p.m.
Where: Hammond High School, 8800 Guilford Road, Columbia.
