Virginia state transportation crews will finally get a chance to resume repairs on the southbound bridge over Neabsco Creek this weekend, likely causing traffic to slow down near Potomac Mills mall when work begins Friday (tonight) at 10 p.m.
Rain over the last three weekends forced crews to postpone the repairs, which are expected to close the left lane on Interstate 95 just south of the Potomac Mills mall in Woodbridge.
The Dale Boulevard ramps leading to the interstate will be shut down from 10 p.m. Friday through the end of the repairs, which could come as late as 6 a.m. Monday.
To bypass the construction zone to the west, motorists can use Virginia Route 234 through Prince William County - accessible from Interstate 66 near Wellington or Virginia Route 28 near Manassas.
To the east, U.S. Highway 301 is a viable option if you don’t mind the extra time - through Dahlgreen, La Plata and Waldorf.
Construction is also scheduled further south on I-95 bridge over the Ni River, south of Exit 125. Two southbound lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday until 4:30 a.m. Saturday.
