MARC train commuters could soon be allowed to bring full-sized bikes onto train cars during the week.

The Maryland Transit Administration is hinting that it will introduce full-size bike service as soon as this summer, once enough cars are equipped with bike racks.

MARC currently accommodates full-sized bikes on weekend Penn Line trains with special cars featuring bike racks. It introduced the weekend bike car on the Penn Line in December of 2014 and later expanded it to every weekend train except the last northbound train on Sundays.

Until now, the bike cars have not been used during the week, except on special Bike-to-Work days.

For now, MARC will maintain its current policy of only allowing foldable or collapsible bikes on weekday trains.

If MARC can accommodate full bikes during the week, would you be more likely to ride your bike to the station?
