MetroAccess Van Driver Arrested for Allegedly Raping Passenger

A MetroAccess van driver has been arrested for allegedly raping an intellectually disabled woman that he was taking home, Metro Transit Police said.

Deymon Levarne Childs, 40, of Suitland, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree rape, third-degree sex offense and second-degree assault, MTPD said in a statement Wednesday.

Childs is an employee of First Transit, which operates MetroAccess on a contract with Metro.

The victim told police that Childs picked her up in Prince George’s County. Detectives determined that the assault occurred on the side of Brightseat Road in Hyattsville, and that they were alone in the van at the time of the assault, according to MTPD.
