Overnight Closures on I-95 Near Fredericksburg

Drivers should anticipate overnight delays on Interstate 95 in the Fredericksburg area this week, with multiple work zones requiring double lane closures through the end of this week, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation

The following lane closures are scheduled are scheduled from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., weather permitting:

I-95 Southbound

Aquia Creek Bridge at Mile Marker 145 Lane Closures

Monday-Friday: A single lane will close at 9 p.m. on I-95 southbound followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. at the Aquia Creek bridge for a bridge rehabilitation project. Double lane closures will end at 4:30 a.m. A single lane will remain closed until 7 a.m. on southbound except on Friday when all lanes will reopen at 4:30 a.m. The bridge is located at mile marker 145, just north of Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville).

Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) Lane Closures

Monday-Tuesday: Expect alternating single lane closures to begin at 9 p.m. for a mobile work zone as part of the Exit 140 interchange relocation and Courthouse Road widening project. All lanes will reopen by 7 a.m.

Potomac Creek Bridge at Mile Marker 137 Lane Closures

Monday-Friday: A single lane will close at 9 p.m. on I-95 southbound followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. at the Potomac Creek bridge for a bridge rehabilitation project. Double lane closures will end at 4:30 a.m. A single lane will remain closed until 7 a.m. on I-95 southbound the following morning except on Friday morning when all lanes reopen at 4:30 a.m. The bridge is located at mile marker 137, just before Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway).

Friday: A single lane will close at 10 p.m. on I-95 southbound followed by a double lane closure at midnight at the Potomac Creek bridge. Double lane closures will end at 4:30 a.m. and all lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Saturday.

Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth) Lane Closures

Monday-Friday: Expect alternating single lane closures on I-95 southbound near the interchange to allow crews to take soil samples for the upcoming I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project. The mobile work zone will begin at midnight. All lanes will reopen by 10 a.m.the following morning.

Exit 126 (Route 1/Massaponax) Lane Closures

Monday-Tuesday: Expect a single lane to close on I-95 southbound near Exit 126/Massaponax at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. Crews continue repairs to the I-95 bridge over Route 1.

I-95 Northbound

Potomac Creek Bridge at Mile Marker 137 Lane Closures

Monday-Friday: A single lane will close at 9 p.m. on I-95 northbound followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. at the Potomac Creek bridge All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. the following morning The bridge is located at mile marker 137, just before Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway).

Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) Lane Closures

Wednesday-Thursday: Expect alternating single lane closures to begin at 9 p.m. for a mobile work zone as part of the Exit 140 interchange relocation and Courthouse Road widening project. All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m.

Aquia Creek Bridge at Mile Marker 145 Lane Closures

Friday: A single lane will close at 10 p.m. on I-95 northbound at the Aquia Creek bridge and will remain closed until 4:30 a.m. Saturday. The bridge is located at mile marker 145, just north of Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville).
