Penn Line Track Work May Cause MARC Delays Starting Monday

MARC train commuters traveling through Odenton and Bowie starting Monday should expect delays of up to 10 minutes due to trackwork in that area.

Amtrak will shift trackwork between Odenton and Bowie from Track #2 (the middle track) to Track #3 (the southbound track). The April 23 Penn Line schedule was designed to accommodate this change, but delays may still occur, MARC said in a statement Friday.

Passengers boarding southbound trains at Odenton and Bowie State University stations will use temporary bridge plates to board trains on the middle track. MARC is warning passengers to remain on the regular concrete platform until directed to board the train by conductors—allowing debarking passengers to exit first.

Additional delays are likely during the first week as train crews adjust to the precision braking and train spotting required to line up the train doors with the temporary platforms, MARC said.
