Thousands of police officers and their loved ones will be in the Washington region over the next week for a series of activities to honor those killed in the line of duty.

Police Week will feature a series of memorial services, vigils and other events that could impact traffic in the region.

Here are some key things to be aware of:

Saturday May 12

National Police Week 5k - Race begins at 9 a.m. at 4th and F Streets NW.

Police Unity Tour Bike Ride - Bicyclists will ride from Annapolis to the District starting at about 9 a.m. Look for road impacts along Route 301/Route 3 in Maryland and through the District.

Police Unity Tour Arrival Ceremony, 2 p.m. National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial, 450 F St. NW (Judiciary Square).


Sunday May 13

30th Annual Candlelight Vigil - 8 p.m. at 4th and 7th Street NW.

FOP DC Lodge #1 Events - 11 a.m. - 2 a.m. at RFK Stadium Lot 8. (Events run all week).


Tuesday, May 15

37th Annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service - 11 a.m. - p.m. - West front of the U.S. Capitol.
