The District Department of Transportation will present its latest vision for an eight-block stretch of C Street NE that would make the corridor more accessible for bikes and pedestrians.

DDOT will present updated designs of the C Street NE rehab project on Feb. 15 and could get final approval of designs this summer.

The rehab project calls for a complete redesign of C Street the from 14th Street to 22nd Street, in the Kingman Park neighborhood. The new design calls for dedicated 7-foot bike lanes, parking lanes, green space, and a new median. There will also be dedicated left turn lanes at 17th Street and 19th Street.

On Feb. 15, the public will get a chance to review the 30% design plans for the corridor. Based on feedback, the final design plans will be refined and presented for approval by August. Construction could begin as soon as March of next year.
