Reminder: Red Line Closures Extended This Weekend

A reminder to those riding Metro this weekend: capital improvement efforts on the Red Line will be extended Saturday and Sunday (July 28-29), forcing the closure of all stations between Rhode Island Avenue and Silver Spring.

As we’ve previously reported, Rhode Island Avenue and Brookland Stations are closed through Labor Day. This weekend’s work expands the project to include Silver Spring and Takoma Stations, as well as the Red Line platform at Fort Totten.

Riders should seek alternate routes, including using the Green and Yellow lines from Fort Totten, if possible. There will also be free shuttle buses serving the closed stations, and there is a temporary dedicated bus lane along Rhode Island Avenue.
