Residents Can Sound Off on Bike Plans

If you like to rotate the pedals in the Washington region, you have a chance to weigh in on broad master plans for bike lanes and other cyclist-friendly efforts.

Arlington County is currently updating portions of its Transportation Master Plan, and is seeking feedback specifically related to biking. The biking portion of the master plan was last updated in 2008.

Cyclists can offer their thoughts in an online survey. The survey will be open through June 29.

The Montgomery County Council on June 10 will hold a public hearing on its Draft Bicycle Master Plan. The county has been working on the draft plan over the last year, and it could be approved by the county council by the fall.

Residents of Hyattsville have until June 15 to comment on updates to the city’s Transportation Plan, which include a series of recommendations to make the city more bike-friendly. The new plan calls for improved connections to Metro stations and the Hyattsvile Art District, and an integration of trails into the local transportation network.
