This time of year, you might expect snow or freezing rain to mar your morning commute. But on Tuesday, commuters should be aware of possible lightning and heavy rain.

Weather forecasters are calling for possible thunderstorms around sunrise, with downpours and winds of up to 15 miles per hour. The National Weather Service warned of “localized instances of gusty/damaging winds and perhaps a brief tornado.”

The NWS said there was “marginal risk” of severe weather, but still warned residents of the Mid-Atlantic to be prepared. Temperatures Tuesday are expected to remain in the 50s and 60s before cooling off in the evening.
