Transform 66 Update, July 6: Overnight Closures Eastbound

Work on the construction of Express Lanes on I-66 Outside the Beltway will continue through the week, with lane overnight closures scheduled on the Eastbound side.

The Virginia Department of Transportation said lane closures will begin Friday night and extend through next week. They will impact the three left lanes of Eastbound I-66 stretch between Sudley Road and Route 29. There will be slowdowns and occasional full stoppages lasting 15 minutes.

The schedule of lane closures is as follows:

Friday and Saturday: 9 p.m. - 9 a.m.

Tuesday and Thursday: 8 p.m. - 5 a.m.

When the work is done, all lanes between Compton Road and Road 29 will move to the inside median. This will allow VDOT to build long-term work zones.
