Transit Disruptions for Oct. 16-20, 2017

Sunny skies and mild temperatures (highs in the 60s to 70s) dominate the week, which features the District and surrounding municipalities making final preparations for the Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday.

Capitol One Arena will be busy this week. First, the Capitals face off against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night. Next, the Wizards open their season against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night. The Wizards follow up with a game Friday against the Detroit Pistons, followed by a matchup between the Capitals and Carolina Panthers on Saturday.

Motorists should continue to be on the lookout for pedestrians in the morning and evening rush hours - we saw at least a couple cars blow past schoolbuses with their red “stop” signs extended while disembarking children in school zones. Likewise, pedestrians need to look both ways before crossing - even in crosswalks (like the one we spotted on South Courthouse Road stepping in the path of a sedan last week).

Happy Monday, fellow commuters. Stay safe and don’t forget to use your blinkers.
