Two More Metro Tunnel Segments Get Wireless Service

Wireless service in Metro tunnels may be getting better for some riders.

Metro said it reached agreements with four major wireless carriers to add coverage in tunnels on the Red Line, Green Line and Yellow Lines.

The additional coverage includes a 2.2 mile stretch of the Red Line between Union Station and DuPont Circle and 4.6 miles of the Green/Yellow line between Gallery Place and Fort Totten.

Metro is hoping to eventually offer wireless coverage throughout the entire system. It also currently offers free WiFi at 30 stations.

Here’s where wireless coverage is already in place:

Blue and Silver lines between Benning Road and Largo Town Center stations

Blue, Orange and Silver lines between Metro Center and Potomac Ave stations

Red Line between Glenmont and Silver Spring stations

Blue, Orange and Silver lines between Potomac Ave and Stadium-Armory stations
