Drivers in Gloucester County should be aware of an 11-mile detour to avoid a sinkhole that has closed Indian Road.
Massive rains caused pipes underneath the road to fail, leading to a total washout of Indian Road between Fary’s Mill Road and Mohican Drive earlier this week.
VDOT crews are working to fix the road, but there is no scheduled day when work will be complete.
Drivers should look for detour signs along these roads:
- Route 603 (Figg Shop Road)
- Route 198 (Dutton Road)
- Route 678 (Harcum Road)
- Route 605 (Indian Road)
Trucks should try major roads including Route 14 and Route 17.
