Residents of Fairfax County can weigh in Wednesday on plans to widen Richmond Highway from four lanes to six.
The $215 million project calls for a series of upgrades on the road, including a widening between Jeff Todd Way and Napper Road. There will also be upgrades to intersections at Sacramento Drive and Cooper Road, and Buckman Road and Mount Vernon Highway.
The widening will also eliminate the median to allow Fairfax County to implement its plans for bus rapid transit, and will make travel smoother for cyclists and pedestrians.
The County is looking to approve design plans this winter, with construction slated to begin in 2023.
