Thunderstorms, hail and winds of up to 24 mph may greet Thursday morning commuters across the DMV as a system sweeps through the Mid-Atlantic region.
Rain was expected to begin Wednesday evening before giving way to scattered thunderstorms, large hail and winds sometime between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Impacts: Don’t be surprised if the roads and highways are a bit more miserable than usual, especially with slick surfaces causing spin-outs and occasional accidents through the morning commute.
Reminders: Motorists should remember to turn on their headlights while using windshield wipers - this has been the law since 2006. Bus, Metro and commuter train passengers should remember to bring raincoat and umbrella to avoid getting wet.
