Bridge and Tunnel Inspection Schedule for the Week of January 29

(News Release: January 27, 2019)—

(Washington, D.C.)—The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close single lanes roadways for bridge and tunnel inspections.

DDOT will temporarily close single lanes on the following roadways on Tuesday, January 29, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, weather permitting:

  • Kenilworth Avenue under Benning Road alternating right and left lane closures of Northbound Kenilworth Avenue under Benning Road followed by alternating right and left shoulder closures of the Northbound on and off ramps for Kenilworth Avenue under Benning Road

DDOT will temporarily close single lanes on the following roadways on Wednesday, January 30, weather permitting:

  • Ramp from Southbound I-395 to Eastbound I-695 over South Capitol Street alternating right and left lane closures from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, weather permitting
  • Ramp from westbound I-695 to northbound I-395 over South Capitol Street partial lane closure, from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm, weather permitting

DDOT will temporarily close single lanes on the following roadways on Thursday, January 31, weather permitting:

  • South Capitol Street under I-695 a right lane closure of northbound South Capitol Street under I-695 followed by a right lane closure of southbound South Capitol Street under I-695, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Ramp from northbound South Capitol Street to Northbound I-395/ Westbound I-695 alternating right and left lane closures from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm

DDOT will temporarily close single lanes on the following roadways on February 1, 2019, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, weather permitting:

  • Ramp from I-66 to westbound Whitehurst Freeway over Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway right shoulder closure

Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas. Motorists should anticipate moderate-to-heavy delays due to the lane closures. Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the inspection personnel.
