Temporary Closures on I-295 Northbound and Southbound December 4-10, 2018

(News Release: December 4, 2018)—

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close single lanes and shoulders on the following roadways to perform construction activities along the I-295/DC 295 corridor.

The following closures will be in place daily from Tuesday, December 4, through Monday, December 10, 2018, weather permitting:

I-295 Northbound

  • Single left or right lane closure between Exits 1-3 from 10:00 pm to 4:45 am from December 4-8.
  • Single left or right lane continuous closure between Exits 1-3 from 4:45 am on December 8 until 4:45 am on December 10.
  • Single left or right lane closure between Exits 1-3 from 11:00 am until 4:00 am from December 4-8.
  • Left or right shoulder closure between Exits 1-3 from 10:00 am until 3:30 pm from December 4-8.
  • Left or right shoulder continuous closure between Exits 1-3 from 4:45 am on December 8 until 4:45 am on December 10.

I-295 Southbound

  • Single left or right lane closure between Exits 1-3 from 10:45 pm to 5:00 am from December 4-8.
  • Single left or right lane continuous closure between Exits 1-3 from 5:00 am on December 8 until 5:00 am on December 10.
  • Left or right shoulder closure between Exits 1-3 from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm from December 4-8.
  • Left or right shoulder continuous closure between Exits 1-3 from 5:00 am on December 8 until 5:00 am on December 10.

These closures are required for pavement work, guardrail installation and equipment mobilization associated with multiple DDOT projects aimed at improving the I-295/DC 295 corridor.

Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas. Motorists should anticipate moderate delays due to the lane closures. Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the work zone.
